Finally getting around to writing this! I've wanted to start keeping a log of shows I go to and I figured I'd start with the last one I went to. I know Dorian had been in LA late last year but I was so excited when I found out they'd be playing at The Glass House so I opted to wait; I had been to The Glass House to see Murder by Death early in 2023 and I really loved the venue, so I was looking forward to going back.

I went over after work, despite how many shows I went to last year by myself I still haven't been able to shake the anxiety I feel beforehand. I chewed gum and ate ginger candies to settle my stomach while I stood in line, I got there around 4 or 5? So I was standing there for a while but atleast I was there early! I managed to get a spot stage left behind the VIP attendees that had already taken up the barrier. Usually I would go to the merch table first but I decided I didn't need anything, kinda regret it now but that's mostly because of how much I ended up loving the opener Frost Children LOL

OPENERS: ATLGRANDMA + FROST CHILDREN

atlgrandma was a good tone setter! He was fun to watch and he did have some jams, for the most part the crowd seemed to be vibing with him. He even busted out the trumpet. I was impressed! And then Frost Children came on...

Now I had already heard a few songs by Frost Children (I had FLATLINE and SERPENT saved on sp*tify) but I hadn't thought much of them beyond that. Here come 2 hot white people in hot outfits (might be biased, Lulu was dressed in boxing shorts and a white tank top and that shit makes me crazy) and the crowd perked up immediately.

The outfits........
Lulu and Angel gunning down the crowd
Angel w/ the Deadmau5 head on

Think they started with COUP and played through a lot of the songs from their album SPEED RUN, along with FOX BOP and GET WHAT WE WANT from SPIRAL. Can't be too sure though, since I wasn't that familiar with their discography in the moment but I'm PRETTY sure.

Anyway the energy was INCREDIBLE, there must've been a lot of fans in the crowd, but I found myself swept up in the energy I couldn't just stand still! Lulu and Angel are amazing performers; their energy and vibes were awesome, I especially loved when Lulu would get on the drums for certain tracks. I wish I could remember which ones they were but it made the songs feel more intense. And then angel came out with the Deadmau5 head?? It was awesome, they wear their influence on their sleeves but it never feels stale. I absolutely need to see them live again, headling this time. Anyway I was obsessed for the next few weeks after this, really wish I would of made it to the merch table afterwards I would really love to own SPEED RUN on CD. Great album.

DORIAN ELECTRA

And the main event! Dorian Electra came out on stage and the crowd went wild; I dont think I've been in a rowdier crowd, which maybe isn't saying much but I had a lot of fun! I loved their Fanfare album so I was losing my mind to every song, they had me sweating just in the first half. Later when I was looking back at the videos I took, in most of them you could hear my horrible wailing LOL

Dorian themselves is such a star, choreographed dance for almost every song and the ones that didn't had some other type of performance. Like for Career Boy to Man To Man they sang at a keyboard. And there was an interlude after Dorian's stage execution with a guy in a clown costume holding up their (mannequin) head and giving out pieces of hair to the audience set to that song from Pagliacci (If I had a nickel for everytime that song was played at a concert I’m at I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice). But of course the dance with the giant puppet during the titular Puppet was a highlight, everyone loved that. Oh and so many costume changes!!!

Classic Fanfare
Career Boy
idk but I love u

Ending the show with an encore of Sodom & Gomorrah and Freak Mode was the final nail in the coffin for my vocal chords. By the end I was exhausted and I think I might have fell over if it weren't for the packed crowd keeping me upright, it was awesome. Would definitely recommend seeing them! Though I have heard murmurs of how bad the crowd can smell at their shows, I wore a mask so idk........ I had so much fun! The only complaint I have is someone's mom was in front of me at barrier and when Dorian was reaching out to the crowd they skipped over me and touched her hand........ It should have been my gay ass........
